I-V CHARACTERISTICS OF OHMIC CONDUCTOR, FILAMENT LAMP AND SEMICONDUCTOR DIODE

OHMIC CONDUCTOR 

Ohmic Conductors are conductors that obey ohm's law. Therefore, the current is directly potential to the potential difference.

FILAMENT LAMP

When the filament heats up as a result of increase in voltage, the temperature increases and as the temperature increase the resistance will increase thereby giving it a non-ohmic characteristics as shown below;

DIODE


A diode only allows current to flow in one direction through it (forward biased), when the current tries to flow the other way (reverse biased) no current is allowed to flow through the diode. Therefore a diode did not obeys ohms law as shown below.
